But I'm glad you liked it! It was fun to write. :)

They're not bonded *yet*. That's what the proposal/wedding is for. And lol, I don't have a good history with *perfect* characters, do I? I can understand why you're suspicious.

Thanks for reading!convicteddreamerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07812626414525441171noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6629651994435351543.post-44488066762402862512017-12-29T08:18:05.381+02:002017-12-29T08:18:05.381+02:00I LOVED the sparring scene, even if it made you cr...I LOVED the sparring scene, even if it made you cringe. It was so fun. Lyra and Blaise should just give in. >:D

I thought Sionann and Adrian were bonded, but I'm assuming now that they're not based on Blaise's comments. I'm interested to see how that plays out. Sadly, I'm not holding hope that Sionann and Adrian make it out of this world unscathed. They seem *too* perfect. :/Owl Facehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13697227504678375230noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6629651994435351543.post-63498692846843515872017-09-12T09:53:28.280+02:002017-09-12T09:53:28.280+02:00Well, the fairy bonding thing still has a role to ...Well, the fairy bonding thing still has a role to play, so you'll see a bit more of it, but probably not a much better explanation. :/ I should explain it on my lore page, I guess. Simply put, bonding is simply the fairies' version of marriage, but it's a bonding in both name and magic, so both the fairy and the fairy's love have to agree to it. Sionann and Adrian are lovers, but not bonded yet (which is why Blaise tells her off for 'talking about stuff she knows nothing about'). They'll get bonded when they get married.

I wouldn't say it's a way of mourning specific to the new world, but more a way of mourning the household chose. Then again, the people on the island know everybody who fights would be in danger, so if someone dies it wouldn't be a big enough surprise to justify a grand mourning affair. I guess it would depend on how close a person is to the one who dies.

Haha, yeah, they are so deep in denial, but that's all part of the fun. And now Lyra at least managed to pick up another hobby. ;)

Thank you for reading and commenting!convicteddreamerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07812626414525441171noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6629651994435351543.post-18665569040517838502017-09-12T02:23:37.284+02:002017-09-12T02:23:37.284+02:00I hope we get to see more of how this fairy bondin...I hope we get to see more of how this fairy bonding thing plays out. I imagine Sionann and Adrian were bonded, just not married? Is bonding automatic, or does the fairy have to decide to do it?

Too bad about Tighe, but how sweet to sit around remembering the good times with him. I imagine mourning in this world goes like that, since death probably happens too often for every one to be a grand mourning affair.

Yay for training! These two are so much in denial, but at least Lyra can get some training out of it.GodReadingCraftshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04582691115972458553noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6629651994435351543.post-40766173529881207922017-08-28T22:52:16.338+02:002017-08-28T22:52:16.338+02:00Haha, I'm glad Lyra being confused makes you h...Haha, I'm glad Lyra being confused makes you happy. XD It is like you say though- she constantly has a wall between her and the rest of the world, and it is only when her calm's been too disturbed to maintain that wall that she stops being a bitch (sorta) and lets people it. She's also never had much experience with people who doesn't take her shit, so this environment is perfect for keeping her off-balance.

*Tries to imagine Lyra going the Florence Nightingale route.* Yeah, no, not gonna happen. That wouldn't fit Lyra's personality at all. But being challenged and being able to challenge someone herself? That fits her perfectly. :) (And Lyra needed a reason to voluntarily spend more than two seconds in Blaise's company, but I'm conveniently ignoring that XD.)

I wouldn't say Blaise gets along naturally with animals - just dragons. There is a reason why he wears that dragon-wing earring (despite the fact that I think he looks really epic with it). And yes, he carries the red dragon out on hunts - the one whose name escapes you because I haven't mentioned it yet. >_> I keep trying to, but never quite get the opportunity. Blaise's dragon is named Ignis.

Sorry to disappoint, but the reason behind Blaise's initial reaction to Lyra was simply because she's a Wild. And phew, I'm really glad you like the updates about their society and lore! I've kinda been afraid it would be an overdose of information, but it's such an intergral part of the story and I've had so much fun trying to figure everything out that I'm glad to hear it's not too over the top. XD

Anyway, thanks for reading and commenting!convicteddreamerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07812626414525441171noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6629651994435351543.post-17599040335092853382017-08-27T20:07:47.277+02:002017-08-27T20:07:47.277+02:00When Lyra is confused, everybody is happy. Or at l...When Lyra is confused, everybody is happy. Or at least, I am. She's so self-confident that she'll never befriend anyone without being a little off her normal base, and this environment is perfect for uhm.. me, heh.

It's not badly written cliches really, there's just so many stories out there. And this one is fitting for so many reasons! I was wondering how a still-grieving woman-child like Lyra who takes photographs for a living was going to survive in this new environment, and this all happened so perfectly. It fits too, how she tries new things that are physical activities she might never do on her own and then falls in love with them. I really like that part. I was glad that you didn't go the Florence Nightingale route with these two, the sparring is perfect and the best kind of competition for them right now. Uhm, that face he's making after she was trying to stand in the right position before they really started to train together is terrifying. (O.o)

Also if Lyra had a spirit animal it would be some kind of cat, a cross between a leopard and a cheetah (not based on spots but based on personality and nomadic lifestyle). Blaise naturally gets along with animals, so~o... Is that a bit of a stretch? Maybe.

I loved the death dragon being the carrier of bad news, so why does Blaise carry it out on hunts? (Or was that the red one whose name has escaped me?)

Oh yes and from their relationship so far I think they really do have a chance at long-term compatibility. People that you know the worst about only become better over time, depending on what secrets they keep. I'm curious too about BLaise's initial reaction to Lyra (love his name by the way), and if he hated her because he sensed a similar stubbornness to his, she was a wild, or if there's a deeper meaning. It's been great getting doses of their society and lore in each update to mirror actual character development. I'm starting to get attached to this island I've never seen the outside of.

Anyways I'm very very invested in this story and I love how you write everyone, thanks for the warning about time! lolFrogsnackhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09055887588288370476noreply@blogger.com
